Empire furniture, one of my favourite styles of French furniture.

The Empire style was encouraged by Napoleon’s desire for a style inspired by the grandeur of ancient Egypt and imperial Rome.

The symmetry, imposing character and grandeur of this early 19th century style makes my heart sing.

This chest of drawers has all the original handles and escutcheons and just look at that flamed mahogany.
