Monks Bench converting to table

Much overlooked and yet quite possibly the perfect item for a generous sized hallway or boot room; the monks bench.

Ideally a table ( sometimes ) or a settle (at other times ) with storage in the trunk or seat - so in my opinion, a great hider of shoes, trainers and boots and bloody useful too.

Did monks ever use these?  Debatable…. Could you use one? Potentially!
